Firefighters were making “excellent progress” against a third-alarm building fire in Santa Ana that left one person injured on Tuesday afternoon, authorities said.

The blaze began shortly after 1:50 p.m. in the 2100 block of South Yale Street, the Orange County Fire Authority tweeted.
The building caught fire after a burning car ignited a gas tank, which resulted in an explosion, the source said. The blaze further spread to several trailers.
The Fire Authority has not confirmed the cause of the blaze, tweeting only that it was still under investigation.
About 75 firefighters from multiple agencies responded to the scene as the flames ripped through the structure, sending a tall column of smoke high into the sky that was visible miles away, Sky5 aerial video showed.
Around 2:35 p.m., they moved to a defensive position and all personnel were pulled out of the gutted structure, the agency tweeted.
By that point, flames could no longer be seen in the building as firefighters doused the building with water from multiple hoses, according to the aerial footage.
A tweet sent around 3:15 p.m. indicated firefighters were making “excellent progress” in the firefight.
One person, a civilian, was later confirmed to be have been injured in the blaze. He or she was transported to a hospital in unknown condition, according to the Fire Authority.
No additional information was immediately available.
