Homicide detectives were investigating the death of a 55-year-old man after an altercation during a large Fourth of July neighborhood party in Santa Ana, police said Sunday.
Police and the Orange County Fire Authority found the man unresponsive and lying in the 2500 block ofNorth Linwood Avenue (map) around 9:40 p.m. Saturday, the Santa Ana Police Department stated in a news release.
Fire officials performed CPR and the man was transported to the Western Medical Center Santa Ana where he was pronounced dead.
The man had participated in a fight occurring during a large neighborhood party celebrating the holiday, a preliminary investigation found.
It was unclear if the man sustained an injury from an assault or had a medical condition. An autopsy would determine the cause of death.
“All parties” had been identified and interviewed, police said.
